Which is healthier option? – Almond Milk Vs. Cow’s Milk

Almond milk and cow milk both are loaded with nutrients, but both of them have ups and downs. There are many varieties and types of almonds and cow’s milk in the market, but we cannot determine which one is healthier almond’s milk or cow’s milk. The choice completely depends on your choice and body requirements. For many cow’s milk will be the choice as per their needs while many would go for almond’s milk because of its low calories. Many things decide which one is the best or healthier some of these factors are the most important:

CALORIE CONTENT:

Cow’s milk contains more calories than that of almond’s milk, but that depend on the which type of milk you are buying like skimmed cow milk has almost 90 calories and compared to unsweetened almond milk it has far less than that of cow’s. Unsweetened Almond milk has at most 30 calories. Sweetened almond milk has 90 calories each cup, and whole cow milk has 150 calories per cup.

HOW MUCH PROTEIN BOTH HAVE:

Cow’s milk has higher protein than that of almond milk. As protein plays a major role in our daily life, it helps our body in many ways like it helps our body to utilize extra calories, aids in weight management. Proteins are the building blocks of our body they are present in each and everything like in bones, skin, teeth, nails and hair etc. Unlike other nutrients, protein cannot be stored in the body. It is needed by our body continuously, so its supply is very important.  It means we need to intake it every day in our diet. One cup of whole cow’s milk provides approximately 8 grams of proteins and compared to the almond milk it has only 1 gram of protein. So in the case of higher protein which is so important for our body cow’s milk is the best possible choice as compared to almond milk.

CARBS COMPARISONS:

Almonds milk have fewer carbohydrates than that of cow’s milk naturally but in the case of sweetened almonds milk they are almost 15 to 16 grams of carbohydrates in it, and cow’s milk contain almost 12 to 13 grams of carbs in it.

TYPES OF FAT:

Almonds milk is higher in heart healthy fat and while in cow’s milk has saturated fat which can lead to many heart diseases. Saturated fats are not good for our bodies. It can lead your body to have high cholesterol levels which can cause blockage in veins, in valves of the heart. Almond milk has unsaturated fat in it which are not harmful to our body.

WHICH MILK IS BEST FOR YOU:

Both almond and cow’s milk are packed with the basic minerals and nutrients. Both are in rich in calcium, vitamin A, D, and B. But almond milk has vitamin E, and cow’s milk is a good source of phosphorus. The main benefit of milk of cow over almond milk is protein as cow’s milk has higher protein content. So the best choice is cow’s milk as it is organic.
